    Step by Step: What to Do After Arrival?

    1. Getting a Rav-Kav Transportation Card

    Public transportation in Israel operates only with Rav-Kav cards. Without it, you cannot pay for rides.

    What is required to obtain one?

    • ✅ Teudat Oleh (Immigrant Certificate) or Teudat Zehut (Israeli ID).

    How to pay for transportation?

    • Rechargeable balance (rides are deducted automatically).
    • Daily, weekly, or monthly passes (by zones).

    2. Visiting the Ministry of Interior for an Israeli ID (Teudat Zehut)

    To complete the immigration process, you must visit the Ministry of Interior and obtain an Israeli ID (Teudat Zehut).

    What to bring?

    • ✅ Passports.
    • ✅ All documents received at the airport.
    • ✅ Documents proving Jewish heritage.

    3. Opening a Bank Account

    Israeli social benefits (including the absorption basket) are deposited only into an Israeli bank account.

    What do you need?

    • ✅ Teudat Zehut (ID).
    • ✅ Passport.
    • ✅ Taxpayer number.
    • ✅ Teudat Oleh.

    All major banks have branches in Haifa: Leumi, Hapoalim, Mizrahi-Tefahot, Discount.

    What will you receive after opening an account?

    • ✔ Proof of account (Ishur Niul Heshbon) – required for government benefits.
    • ✔ Access to the bank’s mobile app.
    • ✔ Initial passwords (must be changed).
    • ✔ Call center password.
    • ✔ Date for receiving a bank card and checkbook (may be needed for renting an apartment).
    4. Applying for the Absorption Basket

    The absorption basket is financial support for immigrants during their first months in Israel.

    What documents are needed?

    • ✅ Bank document (Ishur Niul Heshbon).
    • ✅ Temporary Teudat Zehut (for all family members).
    • ✅ Passports.
    • ✅ Teudat Oleh.

    5. Getting Health Insurance

    In Israel, healthcare is provided by health funds (Kupot Holim), each offering different service packages and benefits for new immigrants. Choosing a health fund is an important step for your well-being and comfort.

    What is needed for registration?

    • ✅ Health fund registration document (issued with Teudat Oleh).
    • ✅ Teudat Zehut.
    • ✅ Passport.
    • ✅ Bank documents (Ishur Niul Heshbon).

    Why is it important to get health insurance as soon as possible?

    • Access to a family doctor, specialists, and lab tests.
    • Medical support from day one in Israel.
    • Possibility to enroll in adaptation courses and programs for immigrants.

    Clalit Health Fund – the largest and most accessible in Israel

    Clalit serves the largest number of medical centers nationwide, including major clinics in Haifa (Adar, Hadar, Neve Shaanan, Kiryat Eliahu, Bat Galim). This makes it a convenient choice for new immigrants, especially if you are not yet familiar with the Israeli healthcare system.

    Benefits for immigrants at Clalit:

    • ✔ Fast appointment scheduling via the mobile app.
    • ✔ Many clinics and specialists in Haifa and surrounding areas.
    • ✔ Access to Clalit hospital network, including the largest in the region – Carmel.
    • ✔ Special health programs and discounts for new immigrants.

    Important! Ambulance service is paid unless hospitalization lasts over 24 hours.

    • ✔ Maccabi, Meuhedet, Leumit – branches in key areas.

    Registration for a health fund can be done online or at the nearest clinic.

    6. Issuing a Biometric Teudat Zehut (Israeli Passport)

    How to obtain it?

    • Schedule an appointment at the Ministry of Interior through the website
    • Visit the Ministry of Interior with your temporary Teudat Zehut.
    • Receive a code to collect the document at the post office (you will receive an SMS notification).
    • Activate the biometric Teudat Zehut.

    • ✅ Mobile service – when the minutes and internet on the SIM card (issued at the airport) run out, choose a provider and keep your number!
