About
In the 1990s, a large number of immigrants arrived in Haifa, following the docking of many ships in the city. In total, about one hundred thousand immigrants from the former Soviet Union settled in the city. In response to the massive wave of immigration, the need arose to establish an organization that would consolidate all activities related to the absorption of this large influx of immigrants, and thus the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption in was established.
The main goal of the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption is to coordinate the absorption of immigrants in the city among the various institutions and entities involved in the integration of new immigrants.
Haifa, located on the slopes of Mount Carmel, overlooks the vast views of the bay and is immersed in rich Mediterranean forest scenery. It is a living example of nature and city coexisting in peace. As befits such a city, Haifa does not neglect nature lovers either. The mountain that reaches out its arms towards the sea creates a stunning mosaic of greens and blues that connect through the streams flowing from the Carmel forests, through the neighborhoods of the city to the coastal ring surrounding it, allowing for an abundance of marked hiking trails just steps away from the backyards of the houses. A wide variety of wildlife and endless greenery in sight create a fascinating encounter between the community and nature.
In addition, there are about 250 gardens and parks in the city, 8 beaches and promenades, and even an educational zoo that allows visitors a glimpse into the lives of many species from different ecological systems. As befits a green city, Haifa operates an advanced air monitoring system that maintains the highest air quality values among the major cities in the country. Haifa is a quiet and well-kept city offering residences with a European flair, large beaches, and a high quality of life.
