The Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption 2024 Report: From Words to Actions

    29/01/2025
The year 2024 was a turning point in the history of the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption. It was a year of change, active work, and overcoming challenges, proving that even in difficult conditions, impressive results can be achieved. The department not only modernized its work but also implemented projects that directly improved the lives of thousands of new olims.Integration through Education and Professional Development

Education and professional growth have always been key areas of focus for the department. In 2024, significant progress was made:

    • The ANYER program at the Technion provided an excellent start for 30 young olims who began preparing for studies at one of the country’s leading universities.
    • Hebrew language learning was enriched with unique courses: from “Shoko Hebrew” for children to “Café Hebrew” conversation clubs and the “Hebrew with a Tail” project, where language is taught in classes with dogs.
    • Support for school children and students included adaptation programs for school children and summer ulpans for children, helping them prepare for the Israeli education system.
    • The job fair became a major event of the year: more than 100 companies presented job opportunities for 1,000 participants, opening new employment opportunities for immigrants.

Social and Cultural Support: New Standards of Quality

Social support became more accessible thanks to a series of innovations:

    • The reorganization of the office on Meginim Street, 131. The new reception space improved service quality and made it more comfortable.
    • Cultural events, such as Hanukkah celebrations featuring immigrant performers, brought together hundreds of city residents.
    • Family support included assistance with opening bank accounts, registering with health funds, and support groups for parents of children with special needs.

    Financial Stability: Successfully Overcoming Challenges

One of the key achievements was effective budget management. Despite a budget cut of 1.5 million shekels, the department completed the year without losses. This was made possible through a well-thought-out review of processes, increased efficiency, and strict expense control.

Kirill Karetnik, City Council Member and Head of the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption:

“I am proud that we managed to complete the year without losses despite the budget cuts. Our department is emerging from a 20-year stagnation, and we are implementing modern policies that meet current demands. My election promises are becoming reality, and this inspires us to continue our work.”

New Projects and Initiatives: A Step into the Future

The year 2024 marked the beginning of many promising projects:

    • Improved work of project managers ensured that no olim was left without the necessary assistance.
    • The modernization of management reduced waiting times and improved the quality of consultations.
    • The development of social projects included lectures, excursions, military service preparation courses, and cultural programs such as Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations.

    Plans for the Future

The year 2024 demonstrated that integration is not only a goal but also the result of hard work, an innovative approach, and mutual support. The work of the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption never stops. We aim to make the adaptation process a new stage of opportunities and growth for every oleh.

Thank you to everyone who has been with us on this journey. Ahead lie new achievements, new projects, and even more support!
