The summer vacation starting these days brings joy and happiness to the city’s children, but it also hides countless dangers.The Haifa Public Safety Department operates throughout the school year in secondary schools across the city, conducting preventive educational activities on topics such as violence prevention, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, and prevention of risky behavior.
“We want the children of Haifa to enjoy a safe and pleasant summer vacation,” said city council member Kirill Karetnik, who is the chairman of the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption and also responsible for the Public Safety Department.
Before heading off on vacation, students attended a series of lectures from various specialists who informed them about the dangers they face on the road, on two-wheeled vehicles, in public parks at night, on beaches, on roads, and in various online networks.
In addition to teenagers, parents were also invited to the lectures.
“Haifa Public Safety Department instructors will patrol some public parks during the dark hours and be on duty at locations. It is important for parents to also be involved and stay vigilant during the summer vacation,” added Kirill Karetnik.
