What is important to do in the first weeks after moving?
Bank
- choose a bank (main banks: Bank Leumi, Bank Hapoalim, Discount Bank, Mizrahi-Tefahot)
- make an appointment at the nearest branch
- open an account
- order a checkbook and cards
- get a certificate of account opening with its details; you need to give it to your advisor at the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration to start payments
Ministry of Aliyah and Integration
- open a personal immigrant account on the gov.il website
- make an appointment with an advisor for a personal meeting (Sderot HaPalyam 15 א) via the MyVisit app or by phone *2994
- at the meeting, arrange the absorption basket (bring the certificate of account opening)
- ask your advisor questions: benefits, courses, support, children, diploma recognition
Ulpan — Hebrew Studies
- choose a state ulpan in Haifa:
- Ulpan Etzion — for young people with higher education aged 22 to 35 (Ha-Namal 48, email: ulpan.etzion.carmel@gmail.com)
- Ulpan Aba Khushi (Sderot HaMeginim 131, tel. 04-6055149)
- Ulpan Beit Erdshtein (Y.L. Perets 20, tel. 04-9111403)
- enroll in the chosen ulpan
- get a referral at the Ministry of Aliyah (in person or online)
Health Fund
- choose a health fund, get a referral
- register with the health fund
- get a magnetic card
- choose a family doctor
Apartment Rental
- study the real estate market
- choose options, contact owners or a realtor
- view different options
- request and translate the contract
- sign the rental contract
- change your registered address at the Ministry of Interior (Sderot HaPalyam 15 א)
- transfer utilities to your name at the Municipality (Hassan Shuqri 14)
