    National Insurance Fund

    Every citizen of Israel pays monthly insurance contributions to the National Insurance Fund (Bituach Leumi).

    Below are the main conditions for paying insurance contributions:

    • citizens who are unemployed and do not receive benefits – 180 shekels per month paid independently
    • citizens who are employed or receive benefits – deductions are withheld from salary or benefits
    • pensioners and disabled individuals – 104 shekels are withheld from benefits
    • new immigrants up to 6 months (and also from 6 to 12 months, receiving subsistence allowance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration) are exempt from paying contributions
    • non-working spouses are exempt from paying contributions, deductions are paid by the working spouse

    If you receive benefits and have received a payment document, you need to:

    • contact an advisor from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and obtain a statement about the provided benefits
    • send the obtained statement and payment document to Bituach Leumi
