Every citizen of Israel pays monthly insurance contributions to the National Insurance Fund (Bituach Leumi).
Below are the main conditions for paying insurance contributions:
- citizens who are unemployed and do not receive benefits – 180 shekels per month paid independently
- citizens who are employed or receive benefits – deductions are withheld from salary or benefits
- pensioners and disabled individuals – 104 shekels are withheld from benefits
- new immigrants up to 6 months (and also from 6 to 12 months, receiving subsistence allowance from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration) are exempt from paying contributions
- non-working spouses are exempt from paying contributions, deductions are paid by the working spouse
If you receive benefits and have received a payment document, you need to:
- contact an advisor from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and obtain a statement about the provided benefits
- send the obtained statement and payment document to Bituach Leumi
