What to do if your property or health has been affected by an attack?

    24/11/2024
    Dear residents of Haifa!

In these challenging times, it is important to know how to act in case of property damage or injuries resulting from an attack. I, Kirill Karetnik, as a member of the city council, want to provide you with a step-by-step guide to help in such situations.

    1. If your health is affected

    1. Seek medical assistance immediately:
      • Call emergency services at 101.
      • If the injury is minor, go to the nearest trauma center or hospital.
    2. Obtain a medical report:
      • Ensure the injury is documented by a doctor. This document will be necessary for filing a compensation claim.
    3. Report to the police:
      • Call the police at 100 and report the incident. Request a report for submission to insurance companies and government services.
    4. Seek psychological support:
      • If you or your loved ones experience stress or trauma, call the psychological support hotline at 1201.

    2. If your property is damaged

    1. Document the damage:
      • Take photos or videos of the damage. This is important for filing a claim with your insurance company or “Mas Rechush” (Compensation Fund).
    2. Report to the police:
      • Call 100 and report the property damage. Request a certificate documenting the incident.
    3. Contact “Mas Rechush”:
      • Call the “Mas Rechush” hotline at *9820.
      • Submit a claim for damages caused by the attack. Staff will assist you in preparing the required documents.
    4. Contact your insurance company:
      • If your property is insured, notify your insurance company about the incident. Provide photos of the damage and a police report.
    5. Check the state of the infrastructure:
      • If electricity, water, or gas is damaged, report it immediately to the relevant service:
      • “Hevrat Hashmal” (Electricity): 103.
      • “Mei Carmel” (Water): 1-800-500-525.
      • Gas company (check the number on your contract).

    3. If evacuation or temporary housing is needed

    1. Contact the municipality:
      • Call the municipal hotline at 106. They will assist you with temporary housing and provide all necessary information.
    2. Check for rental assistance options:
      • If your home is uninhabitable, contact “Mas Rechush” for a subsidy for temporary housing.

    4. If you don’t know where to start

    1. Call the municipal hotline (106):
      • Municipal staff will provide step-by-step guidance and direct you to the appropriate professionals.
    2. Contact me directly:
      • If you need help or advice, feel free to reach out to me personally or through my office at the city council. I will do my best to assist you promptly.

    Together, we will overcome this!

The Haifa Municipality and all emergency services are working around the clock to support you during this difficult time. Remember, you are not alone, and we are here to help everyone.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones!

With respect, Kirill Karetnik Member of the Haifa City Council
