Yesterday, an important visit took place at the Municipal Crisis Management Center (MCMC) of the Haifa municipality by the Minister of Absorption, Ofir Sofer, with the participation of Mayor Yona Yahav and the Chairman of the Haifa Association for Immigrants Absorption, Kirill Karetnik. The visit focused on presenting the municipality’s actions during times of conflict, with particular attention to assisting new immigrants. The visit began with a security briefing presented to the minister by the head of the security department, Yair Zilberman, and the Commander of the Home Front Command in the Haifa district, Colonel Dubi Weiss, who emphasized the city’s readiness to address security issues arising from the complex situation. After that, the minister received a detailed report from the Director of the Education Department, who focused on preparing the city’s education system for wartime, and from the head of the Social Welfare Department, who presented efforts to support the city’s residents, emphasizing the continuous contact between social welfare employees and residents, as well as the activation of a network of volunteers speaking various languages.

Kirill Karetnik informed Minister Sofer about the unique challenges faced by new immigrants during times of conflict and praised the cooperation between the municipality and the Ministry of Absorption, as well as the local support system. “It is very important that immigrants receive the help they need, especially during such times,” Karetnik said. “We are able to provide each of them with the necessary information and offer them a sense of security during this difficult time.”
